![]() ![]() The main male character (the con man) is a bisexual POC, and the female character breaks traditional YA novels trends in a lot of ways. ![]() I think the author is a delightful writer who manages to write two distinct POVs with two characters who have some mystery about them, and keep their secrets while giving us insight into who these people are and what makes them special. I just finished this book and I am reasonably fickle- I don't love a lot of popular titles and have high expectations. ![]() The story follows a proper girl from a small town as she searches for her beloved stepmother with the help of a con man who owes her mother a debt. The book is basically about a city ruled by gambling and gambling families, where everyone has magic/talents (a primary talent and a sub talent that are family based). Hey guys, so I picked this book up and it's from a few years ago, but a quick search on this sub shows almost NO talk about it so I wanted to share my thoughts! ABSOLUTELY my best little underrated surprise for the last 12 months. ![]()
